Thanks for Sharing: Dog-Friendly Patios at Chaco Canyon

Thanks for Sharing: Dog-Friendly Patios at Chaco Canyon

Thank you to Kendra for sharing this great tip on a dog-friendly organic cafe, Choco Canyon: Like many places in Portland Chaco Canyon allow dogs  with the "3 bark rule." They don't have any signage because they don't want the Health Department to see. Healthy food and low key atmosphere. That said, I checked with Chaco Canyon on Facebook and their official policy is no pets inside. They have a large patio that accommodates pets outside and allow service dogs inside. They stated: 1589read more >
Puget Sound Off Leash on YouTube

Puget Sound Off Leash on YouTube

If you visit off leash areas with your dog, you will want to check out the Puget Sound Off Leash YouTube Channel. Puget Sound Off Leash is a channel for the dog lovers of the cities in the Puget Sound area, providing a Dog Park 101 for several Puget Sound Dog Parks. One video shows the ins and outs of Dr. Jose Rizal Dog Park, overlooking downtown Seattle. I have never been to this dog park, but it looks beautiful and the views are stunning. The channel was created by three urban dwellers (with help from their four dogs) in…read more >
Brody the Golden Lab at Linda’s Tavern on Capitol Hill

Brody the Golden Lab at Linda’s Tavern on Capitol Hill

Dogs of Seattle: Brody Look who I spotted at Linda's Tavern on Capitol Hill... It's Brody! This handsome Golden Retriever Yellow Lab mix was helping his mum get ready for a softball game! What a good boy. Linda's is renowned for their lovely patio, which is always super busy on nice sunny days. Dogs are always welcome on the patio, and mellow pooches can often be spotted inside as well. Linda’s Tavern 707 E Pine St, Seattle (206) 325-1220read more >

Since You Asked – How do you find dog friendly places?

A Note on Researching Dog-Friendly Seattle For those who have asked how I find dog-friendly establishments in Seattle that meet specific criteria (i.e. serve breakfast in Belltown), here’s a bit more information. If I don't know of an establishment that I have personally been to off hand, I typically start on BringFido which aggregates dog-friendly listings from various resources and crowdsourcing. However, as a general rule of thumb, I never rely on the restaurant listings as fact. Often times, listings are out of date and a restaurant no longer allows dogs. Also, a vast majority of listings are restaurants that allow dogs only…read more >

Should You Bring Your Dog to a Dog-Friendly Establishment?

So you have read about a dog-friendly Seattle restaurant and you want to go with your dog, but you're not sure it's such a good idea. You have only brought your dog to Norm's once or twice, where there's guaranteed to be a dog worse-behaved than yours. How do you know if you should bring your dog to a dog-friendly establishment? I recommend following a few of basic guidelines to make this decision. 284read more >
Sully’s Snowgoose Saloon in Phinney Ridge

Sully’s Snowgoose Saloon in Phinney Ridge

I have to sincerely thank Daimon from my MCDM program at UW  for recommending I check out Sully's Snowgoose Saloon in Phinney Ridge, because this spot is truly a gem with a ton of character, and undoubtedly one of the most dog-friendly pubs in Seattle. My pack and I checked out Sully's last Wednesday for the first Presidential Debate. As soon as we walk in the bar, a man named "Jim" introduces himself and tells us there's no need for leashes. I ask him if he works there; he says no, he's just a regular. While shoving treats down my dogs…read more >
